Through the organization's efforts, the streets were cleaned, buildings were given a fresh coat of paint and abandoned cars removed. To celebrate the neighborhood's revitalization, tenants, clergy and city officials, including Congressman John V. Lindsay, participated in a tree planting ceremony.
