Daughter of a Canadian mother (Melinda Prowse) and a Colombian father (Hernando Martínez). Flora herself speaks Spanish, English and French. She studied acting at the Actors Conservatory in New York, as well as at the Alfonso Ortiz School and at Actuemos, in Colombia.
