Peter Patzak was an Austrian filmmaker known especially for directing the satirical crime series Kottan ermittelt and many other films and TV productions. After studying psychology, art history and painting, he directed his first feature and later adapted literary works and historical stories for screen. In addition to filmmaking, he was also a painter, author and long-time professor of directing at the Vienna Film Academy, and he won numerous international awards throughout his career. Patzak passed away in 2021 at the age of 76 following heart surgery.
