Kiefer Sutherland (born December 21, 1966) is a British-Canadian actor, producer and director, best known for his portrayal of Jack Bauer on the Fox thriller drama series 24. Sutherland first achieved critical acclaim for his role in the Canadian film The Bay Boy (1985,) after which he rose to further prominence for Hollywood roles, primarily as villains. During the 2000s, he pivoted to more heroic roles. He has won an Emmy Award and Golden Globe award. He is the son of Canadian actors Donald Sutherland and Shirley Douglas.
