Nataliya Volodymyrivna Polishchuk was born on April 6, 1962, in Vinnytsia. She graduated from high school in 1979, after which she worked for a year in the kindergarten she herself attended as a child, and for a year in the garment factory where Nataliya's mother worked. In 1981, she entered the I. K. Karpenko-Karyi Kyiv State Institute of Theatre Arts. As Nataliya herself said, this was a "triumph" and a surprise to some, as few believed that a girl from a working-class family with no connections could enroll in drama school.
