Pierre Lavoie is a Canadian amateur triathlon athlete born on December 17, 1963 in L’Anse-Saint-Jean, Quebec. Lavoie and his wife, Lynne Routhier, are the parents of four children: Bruno-Pierre, Laurie, Raphaël and Joly-Ann. Laurie (1993–1997) and Raphaël (1998–1999) suffered from lactic acidosis and died at a young age. In 1999, Pierre Lavoie launches the first edition of Le Défi Pierre Lavoie in Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean to raise awareness towards the lactic acidosis disease and raise funds for medical research.
