Born in Aichi Prefecture, Japan in 1974, he began making short films independently in the mid-1996, and co-directed four 16mm short films with Keiji Ichikawa during the 20th century. These films were highly acclaimed and received awards and screenings at film festivals in Japan and abroad. He is also active as a filmmaker, directing commercials, music videos, programs, DVD extras, and other content, as well as editing movie trailers and TV spots. In 2004, he established Bashiba Kikaku in Shinjuku, Tokyo.
